Akij Biax Films Ltd. (ABFL) is the only manufacturer of Biaxially-Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP), Biaxially Oriented Polyethylene Terephthalate (BOPET) and Cast Polypropylene (CPP) film in Bangladesh. As well, being a single source of all three films is also rare in the world. It has bought a revolutionary change in the packaging industry of Bangladesh. ABFL started commercial operations in 2018 with an investment of Tk. 350 crores and now with gradual improvement over time, it has turned itself as a company with an investment of Tk. 1500 crores.
For BOPP and BOPET production, ABFL has chosen Bruckner Maschinebau (Germany). Bruckner is the largest manufacturer of film stretching equipment in the world. BOPP is the main component of the barrier, wide range of sealing and low coefficient of friction film in the ever-grow packaging industry. ABFL can produce 2500 MT of BOPP films and 3000 MT of BOPET Films per month.
In the year of 2022, ABFL added another state-of-art technological SML cast polypropylene (CPP) line under its umbrella. This company can produce 600 MT per month with a speed of 300m/min, and the width can go up to 3200 meters. The ranges of thickness vary from 18-100 microns with five layers. The five-layer films provide more flexibility by featuring their barrier properties as well as excellence OTR and WVTR. The automatic dosing system and 2 sigma in-line automatic thickness controller ensure uniform thickness and treatment.
ABFL provides ATLAS CW1040 Primary slitter, which is operated at a high speed of 1000mpm. ATLAS CW 800 Secondary slitter is a versatile machine that can slit and rewind various types of films from primary slitter. ATLAS CW 500 is a customized slitter exclusively for Tobacco film.
